My ancestor was Andrew McGivney who was born about 1800 in Ireland - presumably County Cavan. It is believed that he is the Andrew McGivney who appears in the 1821 Census for the
townland of Drumluman. In 1827, Andrew appears in the 1827 Tithe Applotment for the townland of Pottlebrack along with a Patrick McGivney and Patrick McCabe, brother-in-law.
Andrew was married to Catherine McCabe. He came to Canada/US in August of 1833. Family history indicates that Patrick McCabe came over from Ireland on more than one ocasion to "scout" the surroundings. In the 1840s all family members located in Malone, Franklin County, NY.
Andrew died on the 28th of March 1862.
